100 months to Save the Planet - 84 left
In August 2008 the New Economic Foundation warned that, unless we make real changes, we have 100 months until the climate balance tips irrecoverably into chaos.
What they did? - Go to this page each month where we will list the significant actions (if any) national and local government have made toward averting climate chaos:

NO to Stafford Western By-Pass/Access RoadStafford and Green Party opposes yet more road building and calls for the monies to be spent on improved public transport.

Say No To Another Waste Incinerator in Staffordshire
Waste Management is a burning issue!

Plans are underway to construct a giant incinerator, at Four Ashes, that will require 300,000 tonnes of rubbish per year to operate yet we only produce 150,000 tonnes of rubbish per year and that figure is falling as recycling is increasing. The bottom line is that if this incinerator goes ahead Staffordshire County Council will be legally bound to ensure that the public/private company running the incinerator is supplied with enough fuel.
The alternative is a 'zero waste' strategy. (MORE)
Green New Deal
The Green Party remain concerned that policymakers pay only lip service to
the severity of this economic crisis. The measures that have been most fulsomely
advocated are either wrong-headed or half-hearted. Radical action might be
advocated, but its end is the preservation of the status quo.
It is the Green Party's conclusion that the answer to our present crisis, widely recognised as the worst since 1929, is nothing less than a Green New Deal. Such a Green New Deal approach would help tackle the financial crisis and because it would reduce the use of fossil fuels; it would increase our energy security and independence and help tackle climate change whilst creating millions of jobs.
Welfare Reform
Welfare must be about Economic Empowerment NOT A Poverty trap!
At a time when many people are being unemployed by the depression the Governments response is to cut the welfare state!
“The gap between rich and poor is at its highest level for more than 40 years. This is not just a moral crime, but also a wicked economic waste.” (MORE)

No Motorway Expansion
Staffordshire Green Parties are working together with GAME to stop the M6
Expansion:
G.A.M.E.
(Group Against Motorway Expansion) . GAME was formed in 2004 by environmental
activists in Stafford concerned about the government's intention to build over
50 miles of tolled expressway. This
initial plan has been dropped in favour of widening the M6 from 4 to 6 lanes -
at a cost of £3billion.
