Safer streets for everyone in the Stafford & Stone area

More than half the people unlucky enough to be hit by a car doing a seemingly harmless 35mph, die.

If the speed is reduced to 20mph only 1 in 40 would die. In the Stafford and Stone areas we believe that people on foot and bicycles should have just as much right to feel safe on the streets where they live as car drivers do. We will therefore look to introduce a 20mph speed limit in residential, urban areas including villages. Cars travelling at 20mph hit 60% few people, kills far fewer of those they do hit and don't scare kids as much so that they don't play outside.

Being able to walk the streets safely is a right we should all enjoy, driving is a privilege that should not deny this right.
